Omni-directional perception, agile motion

A 2-DOF head sharpens environmental perception while 20–26 whole-body degrees of freedom enable natural, stable movement across complex, real-world scenarios.

Lightweight design, easy maintenance

At ~123 cm and about 29 kg, the R1 is portable and ready out of the box — no tedious calibration. A clean, serviceable structure keeps you focused on innovation, not setup.

Multimodal AI: speech & vision in one model

An integrated multimodal model fuses speech and image understanding for seamless human–robot interaction. Fully open joint and sensor interfaces plus native simulation support let your algorithms move straight into the physical world.

Move first, execute tasks

Diverse, reliable locomotion is the essential foundation for task execution — the R1 walks, balances and recovers so it can get to work in dynamic environments.

Intelligent pioneer, made yours

Exclusive creative stickers let you define the R1’s look, and continuous over-the-air upgrades keep capabilities improving long after delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between R1 Air, R1, and R1 EDU?
R1 Air is the lightweight 20-DOF entry model with a monocular camera. The standard R1 adds a waist and head (26 DOF) and a binocular camera. R1 EDU is the open development edition (26–40 DOF) with secondary-development support, an optional dexterous hand and high-power compute module, and a 12-month warranty.
How tall and heavy is the Unitree R1?
The R1 stands about 123 cm tall and weighs roughly 29 kg with its battery (about 27 kg for R1 Air), so it is easy to transport and ready to use out of the box without lengthy calibration.
Can I program and develop on the R1?
The R1 integrates a multimodal voice-and-vision model and exposes fully open joint and sensor interfaces with mainstream simulation-platform support. For full secondary development, choose the R1 EDU edition.
Does the R1 support dexterous hands?
A dexterous hand is available as an option on the R1 EDU edition. The R1 Air and standard R1 ship without a dexterous hand.
What is the battery life and how is it charged?
The R1 runs for about one hour per charge and uses a quick-release smart lithium battery, so spare packs can be swapped in seconds. A charger and manual controller are included.
