SENSYS MagDrone R1 Magnetometer

Ultra-portable 0.7 kg fluxgate UAV magnetometer with a rigid, self-folding mount for very low-level flight — touch the ground without crashing. Detects ferrous UXO, buried pipes and cables, and archaeology. Samples to 1 kHz; logs via SkyHub on DJI M400/M350/M300 and Inspired Flight drones.

SENSYS MagDrone R1 UAV Magnetometer

The SENSYS MagDrone R1 is an ultra-portable single-sensor fluxgate magnetometer that attaches to almost any UAV with at least 1 kg of payload. Its rigid, self-folding mount — rather than a suspension cord — lets the drone fly extremely low, just a few dozen centimetres above the surface, and even brush the ground or vegetation without risking a crash. That makes it ideal for detecting small ferrous targets such as UXO over vegetated ground, locating buried pipes and cables, and archaeological prospection.

Fly low, fly safe — rigid foldable mount

Magnetometer surveys rely on flying as low as possible; for UXO search the recommended altitude is 1 m or lower. The MagDrone R1’s rigid, self-folding mount makes low-level flight practical and forgiving — a ground or vegetation touch will not bring the aircraft down — and simplifies take-off and landing compared with cable-suspended sensors. A terrain-following system is recommended for true low-altitude survey.

SENSYS MagDrone R1 magnetic survey data

High-rate fluxgate data, SkyHub-logged

The FGM3D/75 triaxial fluxgate sensor samples at 200–1,000 Hz across a ±75,000 nT dynamic range, with a live data stream to the ground station. The R1 has no internal recorder and is powered by the drone, so it pairs with the SkyHub onboard computer for logging. Process results in-field with GeoHammer Pro, or in Seequent Oasis montaj for large projects.

Applications

Searching for UXO (unexploded ordnance), locating buried infrastructure such as metal pipes and shielded/power cables, archaeology, and surveying for ferrous objects of a few hundred grams or heavier lying underground.

UXO & Detection Note

The system detects ferrous targets ranging from hand grenades (e.g. an estimated 0.5 m sensor-target distance for an F1 grenade) up to large UXO such as aerial bombs at a few metres. Magnetometers detect only items with a considerable amount of ferrous metal and cannot detect most modern landmines; the system must never be used to confirm the absence of landmines or ordnance, but is a valuable asset in Non-Technical or Technical Survey to confirm the presence of ferrous UXO.

Service & Warranty

Supplied by GulfNet Emirates Drone & Robotic Systems with UAE-based technical support, integration guidance and full manufacturer warranty. The MagDrone R1 requires the SkyHub onboard computer and additional components for drone operation — request a quote and our team will propose the complete, ready-to-fly magnetometer bundle, including a terrain-following system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which drones can carry the MagDrone R1?

Almost any UAV with at least 1 kg of payload, including the DJI M400, M350 RTK and M300 RTK, and Inspired Flight IF800 / IF1200A. At only 0.7 kg it has minimal impact on flight time.

Why a rigid mount instead of a cable?

The self-folding rigid mount allows very low flight (down to a couple of dozen centimetres) and tolerates contact with the ground or vegetation without crashing — important for small-target UXO search — while making take-off and landing far simpler than suspension-cord sensors.

Does it record data on board?

No. The R1 has no internal recorder and is powered by the drone, so it requires the SkyHub onboard computer with data-logging software. Request a quote for the complete set.

Can it be used to clear landmines?

No. It detects only ferrous-rich items and cannot detect most modern landmines, so it must never be used to confirm the absence of mines or ordnance. It is suitable for confirming the presence of ferrous UXO during survey work.

What software processes the data?

GeoHammer Pro for fast in-field processing, and Seequent Oasis montaj for large-scale or complex projects. The MagDrone Data Tool is included.
